Air Wick Air Fresheners: Sparkling Citrus And Papaya & Mango

I like to a couple bottles of air freshener on hand for the bathrooms and the rest of the house. You never know when unpleasant odors may arise and don't want to be left without anything to freshen the air. Of course I want scents that are pleasing and refreshing that can kill odors. Some air fresheners are so heavily scented but all they do is make the air smell flowery yet still offensive, and some aromas just do not smell very pleasant.

Price and Packaging

While I was at the local dollar store I spotted Air Wick's Sparkling Citrus and Papaya

& Mango scents for just $1.00 each (plus tax).

The air fresheners each come in the fairly standard recyclable steel container of 8 ounces. The bottles are very colorful with pictures of the designated fruits on the front near the bottom and spray button tops. The Sparkling Citrus variety is mostly yellow and the Papaya & Mango variety is a pale orange shade. On the front of the container is the word "Air Wick" at the top in green lettering in spirals or circles. Below their brand name is the word "New" in red print with a yellow highlight and the words "100% Natural Propellant" in green lettering beside it. The label is attractive and makes me feel like it would freshen up any area with a juicy burst of fruit aroma.

On the back of both labels it reveals that with the 100% natural propellant used in the products it delivers a "soft, gentle mist" for a "cleaner fragrance experience," and not one filled with chemicals. These new products also reduce the carbon footprint by 40% less "per unit than traditional Air Wick Aerosols."

Unlike most air freshener products, it does not specify whether to shake the product before spraying, but it should be sprayed in a well-ventilated area and keep away from extreme temperatures, as it is flammable. Air Wick is a product from Reckitt Benckiser, Inc. based in Parsipanny, New Jersey. This brand offers a number of scents of air fresheners and fragrancing options for consumers.

The Scents

I

like both scents but prefer the Sparkling Citrus variety: it smells closer to the real thing, although both fragrances are pleasing to me and fresh. The Papaya & Mango scent is very light and fresh with a hint of fruity smell to it. The Sparkling Citrus releases a very lemon-lime type of aroma with hints of grapefruit and orange, in my opinion.

On the website the Papaya & Mango is described as a tropical scent: "Blend of papaya & mango, with a sparkling citrus heart of lime, mandarin & pomegranate, on a sensual base of sandalwood." The Sparkling Citrus is described as a citrus fragrance: "Captures the crisp, tangy freshness of fresh grapefruit, bursting with hints of lemon and lime."

Do they Eliminate Odors?

Does this product simply perfume the air or does it really help remove harsh odors? This is the question I feel is the most important when evaluating an air freshener. Some simply add fragrance to the air without really removing offensive smells. This product really does seem to freshen the air and get rid of the bad smells that one can imagine would result in a bathroom. Both scents are very delightful and just what I expect them to be.

Overall

I do think each scent of this product performs well without leaving an artificial or heavy scent behind. A little goes a long way. I would buy these specific scent varieties again as I liked them very much. And, for only a dollar, I can't beat the price!
